Virender Sehwag: A Pakistani cricketer once asked me to sing a song
Indian batsman Virender Sehwag while batting on 150 was once asked to sing a song by a Pakistani fielder.
Sehwag, who was considered as one of the most destructive opening batsmen that India ever produced, shared a recent chat with ‘Cric-buzz’ that he loved singing songs while batting.
While batting, he often sang Bollywood songs. When asked, whether or not someone ever heard him singing? he described a funny incident.
"When I used to play, no one ever heard me singing while playing cricket however it has happened once in a Pakistan-India series, I was batting in Bangalore at 150.
Yasir Hameed while fielding at short leg asked me, Viru bhai, you sing during batting? I replied yes of course. This was then Yasir asked me to sing Kishor Kumar song.
So, he added, I entertained Pakistani cricketers not only with my
batting but also with my singing.
He chose his songs according to
the team’s situation. Sehwag said, when I was scoring good and the team was
about to win, so I would sing Chittiyan Kalaiyaan but in its vice versa he used
to sing Bhagwan ke Bhanjan.
My most favorite song while batting was, taraane lie, chala jaata
hoon kisi k dil mein. Indian cricketer Sehwag said that I used to sing these
songs irrespective of the mood since it would lift my mood altogether.
