Pashdan Dam in Afghanistan: Taliban warned officials to halt any ongoing activity

Taliban in Afghanistan have notified the administration and working personnel of the Pashdan Dam in Herat province to give it a stop to the project, since they have reservations over the project.

The Taliban insurgents asked the officials that we could not reach to an agreement over Pashdan dam, therefore any ongoing activity on the dam should be stopped.

Those who are working on the dam site including project engineers, drivers and security personnel would not be safe in case Taliban’s order is violated, Taliban military in charge in Korokh district warned the district chief.

A number of personnel from different countries including 17 engineers from India, 150 locals, 800 laborer and one from Ukraine are providing their services for the project. Further to this, around 400 heavy and light vehicles are applied on the project.

In this crucial stage of Pashdan Dam development, any intimidating security threats coming from Taliban could halt the project, the report added.
